Restraint

Importance of Restraint

Wearing your retainer is one of the most important phases during your orthodontic treatment.

We have worked hard to place your teeth in their best position.

We have worked hard to place your teeth in their best position. When the braces are removed, the teeth will tend to return to their original position. To prevent this and to allow the teeth to adapt to their new position, a retainer is placed!

It will be necessary to maintain the acquired result while the tissues reorganize and the jawbone consolidates. If these restorations are damaged or lost, it is important to remedy the situation. Conscientious wearing of the restorative appliance as well as active monitoring for one year are essential for the stability of the results obtained. After this period, follow-up is still necessary (e.g., monitoring of the wisdom teeth). We will always be happy to see you again to check on the stability of the result acquired and admire your new smile!

Types of Restraint

A fixed retainer on the invisible side will be placed and should be maintained for a few years.

While waiting for the fixed brace to be put in place, you will be given an appliance for the maxillary and/or mandibular arch that must be worn 10 hours a day, and a mobile appliance that must be worn at night on the upper teeth for one year. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled every 3 months.

Your ever lasting smile…our priority !
